The One Who Does Not Know to Ask
The Sfas Emet saith:
This is not an ignoramous.
This is not a little child.
This the guy who has a question and doesn't ask.
So we teach him how to.
This is not an ignoramous.
This is not a little child.
This the guy who has a question and doesn't ask.
So we teach him how to.

I typed something really dumb and deleted it. There are always those of us who sit and listen and never ask. I tend to be one of those people. And I miss out on a lot of knowledge.

Seems to me these days "they" don't want us asking anything. Its better to be sheep, do you agree?

lo habayshan lomaid.
one of the reasons that the seder and the hagada is in question/answer form is to promote interest and learning.
Unfortunately, I have to agree with frumgirl, nowadays it seems like teachers would rather not be asked.

It's does seem that teachers don't want us to ask anymore but I think it has more to do with a lack of patience than anything else.

Many people with FFB upbringing and education seem to have the experience of being discouraged from asking questions. In the book _Off the Derech_ this is mentioned as one of the things that turn kids off being frum. As a veteran BT (35 yrs)I can say that my exposure to this dubious phenomenon almost turned me off before I ever got started. Fortunately the Torah was more powerful than the stupidity of some of its representatives. The Torah is about asking questions. Period. Rav Shach zt"l used to say "When you ask a question, you open a door. When you give an answer, you close the door."
